On May 2nd, PAAC hosts a breakfast conversation with Glenn Thibeault, Ontario’s Minister of Energy (Biography).

Over the years, the Energy file has proven to be one of the provincial government’s most complex portfolios, as recently demonstrated by public concern over rising electricity prices.  In response, the government released its Fair Hydro Plan to reduce electricity bills by 25 per cent on average for all households and as many as half a million small businesses and farms.

To achieve this reduction, Minister Thibeault examined the province’s energy policies from every angle in order to deliver the single largest cut to hydro rates in Ontario’s history, held to inflation for four years, and which will fit into long-term structural change for the electricity system.

Our conversation with Minister Thibeault will explore how the Fair Hydro Plan was developed, as well as some insight as to how he and his ministry navigated the complex nature of Ontario’s electricity policies along the way.

Please join us for this exciting session.
